Low voltage Systems Service Technician Position
Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Low voltage Systems Service Technician to be based in its Charleston , South Carolina branch office.
Fire alarm service experience is a MUST. We seek only aggressive experienced technicians who want to be part of a winning team.
You must have fire alarm service experience .
Basic Functions:
This job will consist of servicing and testing fire alarm systems of all types. Additional knowledge of security, access and CCTV is preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
Travel to customer locations to perform any of the following:
• Establishes fire/security alarm service by servicing fire/security alarms systems and equipment;verifying system performance;maintaining records.
• Demonstrate proficient skills; upgrade knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis
• Participates in weekend emergency "Call-Out" rotation
• Maintains company provided vehicle, tools and equipment
• Comply with company and Industry safety procedures and regulations
• Attend regularly scheduled safety meetings
• Must maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license
Secondary Responsibilities:
Travel to project location to perform and of the following:
• Start-up, and testing of fire alarm systems and/or fire suppression systems
• Supervision of sub-contractor's installation of fire alarm systems and/or fire suppression systems
• Start-up and testing of fire alarm systems and/or fire suppression systems installed by others
• Attend project meetings as representative of Pye Barker Fire and Safety

Education, Know-How and Experience:
• Working knowledge of NFPA standards
• Working knowledge of fire alarm systems
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret
NFPA Standards, manufacturers instructions and procedures,installation drawings, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics
• General business periodicals, journals, and governmental regulations
• Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers, managers, and co-workers
• Knowledge of electricity, continuity, resistance, and electronic circuitry
• Basic knowledge of general construction, HVAC, electrical and other related trades.
• Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written, diagram or schedule form
• Must be able to work flexible hours to meet customer needs and management expectations
• Ability to work with little or no direct supervision
• While performing the duties of this job the associate is regularly required to stand, kneel, squat, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, as well as talk and hear.
